  • "알다"의 9가지 유형 & notice, realize, recognize, tell, figure - [Part 1 of 2] - 라이브아카데미
    English english 2018. 10. 2. 00:11

    1. know

e.g. I know the way there.

    2. understand

    e.g. I understand(know) how you feel.

    understand(가슴으로) know(머리로)

e.g. I understand why she did that but I don't agree with her decision.

    3.  find out & figure out

I found out about that just yesterday.

e.g. I figured out how to use it.

I figured out how to get there.

I figured out how set up the alarm.

    4. realise

e.g. I finally realised what the problem was.

    5. notice

e.g I saw my friend at school today and I noticed she had gotten a haircut.

e.g. She came out with(released) a new album and I noticed her style had changed a little bit.

e.g. I ran into my friend on the street this morning, and I noticed she looked a little different.

    (run into : 마주치다)

e.g. I noticed you were drinking a lot of coffee today, did you have trouble sleeping last night?

    6. recognise

e.g. This morning, someone said hello to me on the street, but I didn't recognise him.

e.g. Do you recognise this author?

e.g. She looked very familiar, but I couldn't recognise her.

e.g. If you saw your boy friend's handwriting, would you recognise it?

    7. be aware of

    e.g. I wasn't aware of that policy.

e.g. We were aware of the rules.

e.g. They were not aware of the situation at the time.

    8. be familiar with

e.g. I'm not very familiar with this topic.

e.g. Are you familiar with this kind of situation?

    9. tell

    e.g. I can't tell what it says.

e.g. I can't tell how they are different.

e.g. Can you tell what this is? Do you think it's water?

I went to a bookstore few days ago, I saw a woman was surrounding by many people.

I didn't aware of the situation so at first I thought just one of clerks were handing out(sharing공유의 느낌이 강한데..) some stuffs

but when I got closer, she was giving her autograph to people.

It happened at the bookstore so I thought a famous author was autographing for her fans.

    B : Who was she?

I don't know, I couldn't recognise her. I think she is not the author that I know.

The other day, I was at the bookstore and I noticed (there was) a woman surrounded by a large crowd.

It was hard to tell what was going on. So, at first, I (just) figured it was an employee handing out free stuff.

But when I got a little closer, it looked like she was signing autographs

and since it was a bookstore, I realised that it could be a famous writer signing books for her fans.

    B : Who was it?

    I don't know, I didn't recognise her. I don't think she was any writer that I know.

figure : to expect or think that something will happen

e.g. We figured (that) you'd want to rest after your trip.

    ◇figure out과 다름
